Eim Hosts Prestigious Corporate Competition (August 23, 2014)

Eastern Institute of Management on 23 August 2014 hosted the Eastern Round of the 40th National Competition for Young Managers, organized by All India Management Association (AIMA).

This year's theme was "Citizenship of Organization, Nation and Planets – Rights and Responsibilities".

Seventeen teams – including Vizag Steel, Bosch Limited, Tinplate, MAHLE, Tata Power, V-Guard, SAIL, Coal India, Aditya Birla Group, NTPC, and Reliance Industries – made interesting presentations on how their organizations were contributing to corporate citizenship and citizenship of the world.

Reliance Industries, MAHLE and Bosch were judged the best presentations, while our Institute awarded a special prize to JEEVika of Bihar in recognition of their uniquely innovative projects in Bihar.

Our Prof. Pradipta Tagore was invited to be on the esteemed panel of judges for the presentations. On behalf of EIM, our Prof. Roma Puri – ably assisted by many of our students – coordinated the entire proceedings to perfection. All participants, judges and guests were hosted to lunch, and showed around the campus. AIMA and all participants deeply appreciated EIM's highly efficient – and cordial – hosting of the event.

EIM Conducts Program In 'retail Customer Services' (August 2014)

EIM during August 2014 conducted a 3-week program on Retail Customer Services, designed to impart skills needed to work in organized Retail industry.

Participants – mostly graduates and twelfth standard pass outs – were given insights into store operation and customer handling, customer psychology and behavior, communication and soft skills, and IT-dependent service systems.

The program was conducted in close collaboration with Reliance Trend, who provided inputs vis-ŕ-vis curriculum development, and whose senior executives conducted several classroom sessions. Reliance also offered participants invaluable hands-on experience in their retail stores.

The program was coordinated by Prof. Anindra Haldar, our Marketing faculty, with other faculty members taking several sessions. All participants were extremely satisfied with the program in its content, delivery and execution. "Our take-away has been fantastic! Now that we know the basics of retail sector operations, we would love to be part of it," gushed one young man.

EIM in collaboration with industry partners is planning to offer more such programs in future.
